Politicians, if you want the votes of igneous Nigerians, do not promise roads. Promise access to credit to build the companies that will pay the taxes to build the roads.
Too many politicians do not know what to promise. They campaign in slogans because they do not understand the swing of the economy. Here is the truth: Political office is not for everyone. But the economy is. Every Nigerian lives in the marketplace. Every day, we produce, we buy, we sell, we consume, and we save. We are not waiting for politics. We are waiting for prosperity. And prosperity has one gate: access to credit.
Cash lets a man survive. Credit lets a man build. It is credit that turns a trader into a distributor, a farmer into an agro-processor, a graduate into an employer. Igneous Nigerians do not need handouts. We are fire-formed. We see value where others see waste. We discover, we innovate, and we create. What we need is ignition. That ignition is credit.
So let this be a bombshell to every political office candidate: The promise of a credit-denominated economy is not politics. It is economics. It is the one promise that puts the people at the centre of wealth creation. Any manifesto without a clear, actionable plan for credit availability, accessibility, and professional management is a manifesto without a future.
The law already exists. The National Institute of Credit Administration, chartered by Act No. 26 of 2022, is the statutory engine built to make credit safe, disciplined, and accessible. Because in the 21st century, a people-centred economy is a credit-centred economy. And access to credit is the new ballot paper.
